Collective worship
As a Church of England School, collective worship is an integral and valued part of our daily routine. We have strong links with Oakwood Church and other churches in our locality. Services are held at the church throughout the year, including Harvest, Christmas, New Year, Easter and a Leaver's Service. Collective worship is led by pupils, teaching staff and local clergy, the purpose being to give all involved a quiet space within the day to reflect on people’s religious practices, values and beliefs and relate these to their own experiences and to consider the unanswerable questions of everyday life.
Opportunities for prayer and reflection have a daily place in the life of the school. The whole school meets each day for worship and other prayers are said before lunch and at the end of the day. We share a variety of prayers, including The Lord's Prayer. The prayer below is
'Our School Prayer'.
All children take part in collective worship each day which reflects well on the school's inclusive approach. Parents may, however, withdraw their child(ren) from collective worship and any such intentions should be discussed with the Headteacher in the first instance.
Our School Prayer
This is our school,
Let peace live here.
Let the rooms be full of happiness.
Let love be all around,
Love of one another,
Love of all people,
And love of life and living.
Let us remember
That as many hands builds a house,
So many hearts make a school.
